The study aims to determine the place, importance and role of Veterinary Forensic Medicine in forensic sciences. Answers are sought to important questions such as how veterinary forensic medicine practices play a role in solving and punishing crimes, how they contribute to the protection and welfare of animals, and how close they are to other disciplines of forensic sciences, especially forensic medicine. In this context, there are many similarities between forensic sciences and veterinary forensic medicine, but one focuses on humans while the other focuses on animals. Although there are similarities in the working methods and techniques in forensic sciences, forensic experts investigate criminal behaviour, while veterinary forensics examines legal issues related to the health and welfare of animals and crimes committed by humans against animals. Today, many animal species interact with humans. Illegal behaviour such as abuse or neglect towards animals sometimes cause behavioral disorders in animals and lead to legal cases. Veterinary forensic medicine specialists serve the judicial system by examining animal-oriented legal problems within the forensic medicine discipline, which meets at the most common point in forensic sciences.
