Abstract

The lactation period, as well as being a period of physiological changes starting from birth, is also a psychosocial process in which an emotional bond is formed between the mother and the baby. During lactation, significant amounts of energy are transferred from the mother to the baby, which are essential for life. It is thought that during feeding, the baby’s continued development is assured with growth factors transferred to the milk from the mother’s plasma. Among these growth factors in the lactation period, the best known are ghrelin, leptin, adipokinine and visfatin. Biosensors are preferable because they are cheap, simple in design and easy to use. We have previously looked at the effect of back massage in the postpartum period on serum ghrelin, leptin, adipokinine, noradrenaline and oxytocin hormone levels and their effects on lactation by the ELISA method. In the study, we aimed to investigated the Sensitivity and Specificity of the biosensors produced for these markers. Compared to the ELISA results, the samples taken were found to have high Sensitivity and Specificity. Biosensors are widely used in clinical diagnosis, medical applications, bioreactors, preparation of bacterial and viral diagnostic kits, drug production. We think that biosensors can be preferred for analysis because of their simple, inexpensive, easy-to-use, high Sensitivity and Specificity.
