Abstract

Viral diseases occur from time to time in enterprises where ruminant breeding is carried out and are accompanied by high mortality and morbidity. Young animals are most affected by these diseases. In addition, deaths are observed in adult breeding animals with low body resistance, and significant productivity losses are observed in the remaining ones. Many of these viral diseases seen in ruminants are also zoonotic and threaten human health. There is no specific treatment for many viral-related diseases; only symptomatic and supportive treatments are provided. It is seen that viral diseases threaten the country's economy by causing significant economic losses due to the drug costs applied for this purpose and the residues of the drugs used in meat and milk. In recent years, preventive medicine practices have come to the fore in the fight against epidemic diseases in ruminants. One of the most important options among the applications made for this purpose is vaccinations. In this study, it is aimed to provide information about viral diseases that are frequently seen in the ruminant breeding sector in our country and are included in vaccination programs.
